Tax Returns for Self-Employed Londoners - Special Offer!

Tax Returns for Self-Employed Londoners – Special Offer!

Tax Returns for Self-Employed Londoners - Special Offer!
Are you self-employed? Are you late filing your 2018/19 Self-Assessment tax return? If so, now is the time to get Taxfile to sort it out for you.

There are 4 important reasons why you should file your tax return now:

1. Save money, with our special offer!

For a very limited time, we are offering to do Self-Assessment tax returns for self-employed Londoners for just £199 + VAT (our usual pricing is from £277 + VAT). That’s a saving of nearly £94 including VAT.

2. Stay eligible for Government Help during the lock-down

Self-employed people who are struggling financially during the coronavirus lock-down may be eligible for financial help from the Government. This is in the form of their recently announced Self-Employed Income Support Scheme (‘SEISS’). However, to remain eligible, you must have filed your 2018/19 Self-Assessment tax return by 23 April. If you miss that deadline, you will no longer be eligible for that Government assistance.

3. Avoid severe fines from HMRC for being so late

The original deadline for submission of your 2018/19 Self-Assessment tax return was actually 31 January 2020. So, if you didn’t already file your tax return by that date, you already owe HMRC a fine of £100 minimum. That’s nothing, though, compared to the penalties they will start charging you after April. From 1 May, you will owe an additional £10 per day, every day from that date if you still haven’t filed your 2018/19 tax return. So, for example, after a week you’ll owe the original £100 plus an additional £70 as a minimum, or the £100 plus a further £140 after two weeks and so on. You may also be charged interest on top of all of that if you owed HMRC a tax payment on the original 31 January deadline and still haven’t paid it.

4. You may be due a tax rebate

Some self-employed people may be due a tax rebate. This depends upon your

Wandsworth Council will pay for self-employed Wandsworth residents’ tax returns for the financial year 2018/19. This tax return service is FREE but you only have until Sunday* this week to apply. If you apply in time, Wandsworth Council will cover the cost for you.

Why free?

The Government has put in place a range of measures for self-employed individuals, including a Self-employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS). This will provide direct cash grants worth 80% of trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for self-employed individuals with profits of less than £50,000 per annum. To be eligible for this scheme, you will need to have submitted your tax returns for 2018-19 in just a few days’ time. Wandsworth Council are keen to facilitate this as part of their help to small businesses during the Coronavirus crisis.

Closing date

The deadline to apply for this free offer is this coming Sunday 19 April*. Once you have applied, your actual 2018-19 tax return will need to be submitted to HMRC by Thursday 23 April, so time is of the essence. However, that’s where Taxfile comes in. We’ll get all the figures entered and submit to HMRC on your behalf. Wandsworth Council will pay our fees if you applied no later than their 19 April deadline*.

Free Tax Clinics for Barclays Bank Customers

Free Tax Clinics in Clapham Junction

As a way of giving back to the community, Taxfile recently hosted a free ‘Tax Clinic’ at the Clapham Junction branch of Barclays Bank. Here, customers could informally chat with the Taxfile team about their tax affairs and raise any queries or concerns that they might have about tax, all in total confidence. Many customers seized the opportunity at the January event. They were a mixture of pre-arranged appointments and those simply visiting the branch. All Taxfile’s advice at Barclays Bank on the day was free of charge.

Tax clinic at Barclays Bank, Clapham JunctionThis first Tax Clinic was a roaring success and our advice proved to be very popular with the local community. While the advice on the day was free of charge, some customers asked Taxfile to extend their help into the future, on a more regular, commercial basis. This would typically be for the type of accountancy services that Taxfile offers from its offices in Tulse Hill, Battersea, Dulwich and Exeter. For example, payroll services, help with auto-enrolment, year end accounts, computations, submission of tax returns and tax refunds, clearing up messy tax situations … and so on. Such ongoing services are always quoted up front, so that customers know exactly what to expect going forwards. Most times, our accountancy services are offered for a fixed fee, which keeps things nice and simple.

Barclays Bank often recommends Taxfile to their local customers for tax and accounting consultations. Indeed, we work very closely with them as their preferred partner for local businesses here in the Clapham Junction and Battersea area. We’re both keen to be active in the local community and working together has therefore been a natural partnership. Barclays is also on a mission to personalise their offerings to customers and to add more value, so bringing in Taxfile to help with their customers’ tax affairs has made perfect sense.

Free £500 CIS Voucher

Special offer: claim a £500 CIS voucher for tax & accountancy help (SW8)

Are you a limited company working in the construction industry? If so, we have a great offer for you. If you’re a new customer, we’ll give you a voucher for £500 worth of free CIS tax analysis by a Taxfile tax expert. The voucher will enable one of our experienced tax agents/accountants to review the past 18 months of CIS tax payments and Corporation Tax paid to HMRC by your limited company. We’ll crunch the numbers – free of charge – and will make sure that everything is in order. Once we’ve done that, we’ll be able to confirm whether you are due a tax refund. Most CIS customers are due a refund and, if you are too, we’ll even claim it for you.

How to Qualify

To qualify, your limited company simply needs to sign up to Taxfile services, for example payroll and CIS-related services. These would be billed on a monthly basis. You’ll need to provide copies of your invoices and paperwork relating to the CIS work you have undertaken. Together we’ll need to make sure that each payment and expense recorded is justifiable and also we’ll check that nothing has been missed. We’ll need your official permission to deal with HMRC on your behalf. That’s simple and quick and also makes it easier to apply for any tax refund you may be due. Additionally, for any payroll and CIS services, we’d need to be listed as your agent on the HMRC site (again that’s quick and easy to accomplish).

Already have an accountant or tax adviser?

That’s fine; your existing agent can continue to do your end of year accounts, while we take care of services like payroll for your company’s directors, National Insurance, tax analysis and CIS refund applications for your limited company and any sub-contractors engaged by it. Or we’d be happy to do it all or you!

CIS Tax is What We Do Best

CIS tax is what we do best at Taxfile — so leave it to us and we’ll make sure you maximise any claim, safe in the knowledge that we are proven and trusted by HMRC and have successfully claimed back thousands of CIS tax refunds. What’s more, we can begin the process of making a claim for you from 6th April 2018. Our work is also insured so that, in the unlikely event that your company is the subject of an HMRC tax investigation, our fees to sort it all out for you and to fight your corner are covered (terms apply e.g. you need to have filed your tax returns etc. by the due date, through Taxfile).
